William is a SETA-accredited trainer, assessor, and materials developer. He has over twenty years of experience as a trainer and facilitator, originally having received training in the ‘Training for Learning’ methodology during his time at the Independent Mediation Service of South Africa (IMSSA) in the 1990s.
William facilitates courses on conflict management, negotiation, collective bargaining, mediation, and labour dispute prevention at several South African Universities at certificate and postgraduate level and he also facilitates training for the International Labour Organisation (ILO) at their International Training Centre (ITCILO) in Turin, Italy and in other countries.
William is a part-time Commissioner at the CCMA as well as a panellist with Public and Private Sector Bargaining Councils and Accredited Private Dispute Resolution Agencies for over fifteen years. Before this, he was a director, mediator and arbitrator with IMSSA. He is a member of the Conflict Dynamics Panel of mediators, facilitators, chairpersons and coaches.
William is a CEDR (UK) accredited mediator, a UCT School of Business graduate, an internationally accredited coach and he is also a research associate in the Faculty of Law at UCT. William holds a B Soc Sc from UCT, B Proc and LLB from South Africa, DPLR from the Graduate School of Business UNISA, and is a research candidate for LLM at UCT. He graduated from UCT Graduate School of Business and is a research associate in UCT's Faculty of Law.
